We are pleased to inform you that the next Meeting of the International Association for the History of Nephrology (IAHN) will be held in Naples.
The IAHN will celebrate the XIII Congress in Italy, where it all began in 1993. In thirty years, a critical mass of data has been collected, representing the backbone of five hundred original scientific articles published in international journals.
This year, the IAHN 2024 meeting will also pay attention to the treatments of kidney diseases from ancient times to the present day: this will allow us to better understand the latest therapeutic advances.
We are in fact witnessing a revolutionary period in therapies and diagnostic methods in medicine. HIF stabilizers, MCO filters, gliflozins, new mineralocorticoid antagonists (finerenone), new CNIs (voclosporin), anti-Bliss (belimumab), new drugs for IgA (enteric Budenoside ), and new imaging
methods are profoundly changing nephrology. The IAHN will also help with its historical approach to understand how we got to these new paradigms. To this end, presentations (with a dedicated satellite event in Italian ) with top level speakers in both the historical and clinical-scientific fields, also attracting a large medical audience thanks to the historical-therapeutic perspective.
The Congress aims to show the progress of nephrology born from the border areas of other disciplines, fueled by the advent of dialysis and rapidly progressed to meet the needs and expectations of 10% of the world’s population.
We are working to promote the History of Nephrology, thanks to an exciting scientific program integrated with poster sessions, with numerous opportunities for face-to-face contact with prestigious Italian and foreign researchers in the field of Nephrology and the History of Nephrology.
The Plenary Lectures, held by Italian and international researchers, will foster the direct involvement of young scientists. We are excited to bring the community together in 2024 to discuss research and develop new research ideas.
